The Ugandan Water Project is a humanitarian effort established through Isaiah 6 Ministries that places rainwater collection tanks on community buildings throughout the East African Nation of Uganda.
There are three major goals of this project:
1) Provide safe and accessible drinking water to communities across Uganda that are currently suffering from preventable diseases contracted from water-borne pathogens.
2) Strengthen communities by providing a shared resource that benefits all and is located at a community-valued location such as a school, church, clinic, or orphanage.
3) Create direct connections between sponsors in the US and villages in Uganda through interactive technology and a fast, efficient impact system that allows project completion within a 30 day start-to-finish timeline.
The rainwater collection tanks installed through this effort are 10,000 liter polyethylene containers that provide 150-200 families (300-500 individuals) with safe drinking water. The tanks have a lifespan of 35 years and require very little maintenance. Taking advantage of East Africa's regular rainfall throughout the year, these tanks are fed by roof runoff from the buildings where they are installed. Light enough to be moved by a few people, these above-ground cisterns can be installed in a few hours once they arrive on-site.
It is truly amazing to see how far a few American dollars can go in a place like Uganda. Even more amazing is how many lives can be saved with only a little effort and a lot of heart.
If you would like to help to financially support the Uganda Water Project outside of this event, please contact the project director James Harrington at 585-752-5396 or ugandanwaterproject@gmail.com.

JUST RELEASED
"This
album was a collaborative project between artists Derek Joseph
(Harvest, Isaiah Six) and Jesse Sprinkle (Dead Poetic, Poor Old Lu).
After Derek and Jesse went to Uganda together in August of 2008, they
were moved so powerfully by the experience that they were inspired to
create this album. Full of original music and peppered with African
flavors, this project will stir your heart with compassion and vision
for the suffering of the world. The album also includes traditional
East African worship music performed by Derek and Jesse, along with
live recordings of Ugandans in worship. This album is one of a kind."
